Focus Area: Us
Weekly Focus: Our Class
Focused Learning Activity for the Week:
Students will be encouraged to join the teacher in the
writing center. The teacher will prompt
the students to draw an answer to the question, "What do you like about
your friends? Why do you like to have friends? What is the favorite thing that
you like to do with your friend (s)?
Students that need extra support: Will be given prompting
answers and asked children recognize the friends in the classroom that he or
she like to play. For example, "The teacher will invite children to make a
sculpture her or his friend then the other friend can copy it using
playdough." This activity will help children to recognize what friends
means (play and have fun together). The teacher will ask children what things
they love to do together? The teacher will write whatever they express.
Students that are ready for a challenge: Will be prompted to use multiple sentences when responding to the question What they know about your friends?" What do you love about them? What things would you like to do together? Children will have the opportunity to explain what they know in long sentences; the teacher will extend the conversation and will write whatever they say. The teacher will invite children to draw children the favorite things they love to do together.
