WEEK OF MAY 30, 2022

 



REMINDERS!

 
  • Please make sure that your child walks into the school building with a mask at all time.
  • Please make sure your child has two extra change of clothes, including underwear, tops bottoms and socks.
  • Please remember to bring sleeping mats to school.
  • The weather is good, and we are having a walking trip around the neighborhood and park near by the school, please make sure that your child wears appropriate shoes.
  • No Afterschool Program every Friday in June.
  • Thursday, June 9th, 10:00am- End of the Year "Moving Up Ceremony" in the gymnasium. (Two (2) Adults Permitted per Child).

Month Two: Grow

 

Weekly Focus: Things That Grow.


Focused Learning Activity for the week: 


GOAL: P-SE 8. Child manages emotions with increasing independence.



Weekly Foundational Text:  Pouch by David Ezra Stein: Joey wants to go exploring, but he's not quiet sure he's ready to leave mama's safe, warm pouch.



Weekly Teacher Reflections:


-How did Joey fell when he met the bee, rabbit, and bird?


-How do you think Joey felt when he was in his mom's pouch? Why?


-How did Joey feel when he met the other kangaroo? Have you ever felt afraid? What did you do when you felt afraid?






Learning Centers Available for the Themes:


BLOCKS: Children are invited to explore the block area. Children will be motivated to explore unit blocks, and the teacher will invite children to notice how they can do to make the blocks grow.

 

DRAMATIC PLAY: Children are invited to go and explore the dramatic play center,  and they are encouraged to use the props provided. The teacher will model how to take care of the baby dolls and other materials in this area. The teacher will show children the pediatric area and how to use the materials. 

 

ART: Children are invited to explore and use the art area. They will be encouraged to use the props and manipulate them. Children will be motivated to to use craft materials and use their imagination to create new things.  

 

SCIENCE: Children will be encouraged to participate in the science area. Children can find a variety of natural objects, and they will be shown a few items from a natural objects collection. Children will be manipulating rocks that they collect from the park as well as sticks. Children will continue observing the transformation of the caterpillar into butterfly. Children will continue taking care of the plants in the classroom to help them to grow. 

 

MATH: Children are invited to use the materials in this area. The teacher will introduce to children some objects that can help us to count and match them with its correspondents. Children are encourage to use the props provided.

 

LIBRARY: Student are able to explore books from the classroom library.

 

WRITING: Student are encouraged to explore the materials in the writing center. Children are encourage to explore and manipulate magnetic trace letters and take care of them. Children are invited and encouraged to explore their name cards and the ABCs letters. 

 

SENSORY: Student will be shown a small amount of sand as well as a few vehicles and small toys in the sand. The materials will be shown to then where they can be found and how to put them away.

Focused Learning Activity for the week: 


GOAL: P-SCI 1 Child observes and describes observable phenomena (objects, materials, organisms, and events).



Weekly Foundational Text:  Anywhere Farm by Phyllis Root: Almost anywhere can be turned into a home for green, growing things.



Weekly Teacher Reflections:


-Think about what we read in this book, which animal did we see that grows in an egg?


-This book talks about many different things that change when the season changes from winter to spring. What types of things change between winter and spring? Does anything grow? What things?


-Animals get bigger and bigger and so you! In this book, the bird grows too big to fit into the egg. What are some of the ways you are growing?  






Learning Centers Available for the Themes:


BLOCKS: Children are invited to explored  the block area. Children will be motivated to explore unit blocks, and the teacher will invite children to build towers using cardboard blocks and woods blocks and compare which of the make the tower taller or smaller.

 

DRAMATIC PLAY: Children are invited to go and explore the dramatic play center,  and they are encouraged to use the props provided. The teacher will model how to take care of the baby dolls and other materials in this area. The teacher will show children the pediatric area and how to use the materials. 

 

ART: Children are invited to explore and use the art area. They will be encouraged to use the props and manipulate them. Children will be motivated to to use craft materials and use their imagination to create new things.

-There is a lot of information in this book about what a plant needs in order to grow. What are some of these things?


-Plants grow from seeds. What do you know about seeds?


-I am curious about the plants you see on your way to 3-K. Tell me about the trees you see near 3-K  or where you live.

GOAL: P-PMP 4 Child demonstrates personal hygiene and self-care skills.



Weekly Foundational Text:  Safe in a storm by Stephen Swinburne: No matter loud the storm rumbles, next to their mothers the baby animals are able to let go their fears and fall sleep.



Weekly Teacher Reflections:


-What are some of the things in this book do to care for themselves during the storm?


-Animal has fur and skin that helps their bodies stay warm and dry when the weather is cold and wet. What are some things that people can use to care for their bodies when it is cold or rainy?


-This book is about staying safe in a storm. Let's think about some other types of weather. What do you do to take care of your body when it is really hot outside? What about when it is really sunny?
