Reminders:
- Please make sure your child has two extra changes of clothes, including underwear, tops bottoms and socks.

- Drop off in the morning is between 7:45 and 8:00 am. Dismissal is at 2:45 pm.

Focused Learning Activity for the Week:
Students will be encouraged to join the teacher in the
writing center. The teacher will prompt
the students to draw an answer to the question, "What do you know about grown-ups’
people in the classroom? at school? what do you know about them? Why are they
helpful for you?
Students that need extra support: Will be given prompting
answers and asked children recognize the adults in the classroom. For example,
"The teacher will sing the song, "the finger family song." this
song will help children identify and visualize adults’ roles. The teacher will
also show the children the toys people we have in the classroom, and it will
help children visualize the roles adults in our community. Then, the teacher
will show the toys people and will ask the role of them according to what they
are wearing or dressing up.
Students that are ready for a challenge: Will be prompted to
use multiple sentences when responding to the question What they know the
grown-ups around them (adults’ people) and what they do?" Children will
have the opportunity to explain what they know in long sentences; the teacher
will extend the conversation and will write whatever they say.
ELL Students: Will be given the directions / questions in
Spanish. Dictation will be written in
whichever language they answer
Foundational Text for the Week:
Standard Addressed: P-LIT 5. Child asks and answers
questions about a book that was read aloud.
WEEKLY FOUNDATIONAL TEXT:
Just In Case You Want to Fly by Julie Fogliano (author) and
Christian Robinson (illustrator): A celebration of heading off on new
adventures and knowing your loved ones will always be there when you need them.
We can show someone we care for them by doing helpful things
for them. What are some helpful things the people in this book did?
What are some helpful things you can do in our classroom?
How do you feel when you are helpful?
Learning Centers Available for the Theme:
Blocks- Children are encouraged to explore the block center.
They will be shown a few unit blocks, shown where they can be found in the
classroom, and shown how to match them to their outline in order to clean up.
Dramatic Play- Children are invited to explore the dramatic
play area and use the props and clothing provided. Dramatic Play will be set up
as a kitchen. Teacher will introduce
basic materials, how to use them, and how to put them away.
Art- Children are invited to explore the art area. They will
be shown a paint container, brush, and paper. Teacher will model how to dip
brush in paint and paint a few brushstrokes on paper. Students will be shown
where materials can be found in the classroom and what they should do when they
finish painting.
Science- Children will be shown a few items from a
collection of natural objects. Teacher will model how students can begin to
explore some of the materials. They will be shown where these materials can be
found in the classroom and how to put them away when finished.
Math- Children will be shown a couple of puzzles. Teacher
will model how to take apart and how to put a few pieces together. Students
will be shown where puzzles can be found and how to put them away.
Library- Students can explore books from the classroom
library.
Writing- Students are invited to explore the materials
provided in the writing center. They are encouraged to explore their name
cards.
Sensory- Students will be shown a small amount of sand and a
few toys. They will be shown where these materials can be found in the
classroom. Students will be prompted to
wash their hands before and after using the sand table.
