Reminders:
- Please make sure your child has two extra changes of clothes, including underwear, tops bottoms and socks.
- Please always make sure that your child walks into the school building with a mask
- Drop off in the morning is between 7:45 and 8:00 am. Dismissal is at 2:45 pm.

Weekly Focus: Things We Like
Focused Learning Activity for the Week:
Students will be encouraged to join the teacher in the
writing center. The teacher will prompt
the students to draw an answer to the question, "What things would you
like to do in the classroom? What things would like to do with your friends?
What things would he or she dislike doing? Why?
Students that need extra support: Will be given prompting
answers and asked children recognize some things they really love to do. For
example, "The teacher will sing the song "Do you like broccoli Ice
cream?" this song will help children identify things that they like and
dislikes, but also to recognize things that can be good and another that cannot
be good like is the combination broccoli and Ice cream. The teacher will show
some pictures, and the children will answer or pointed if they like or dislike
then the teacher will write their answers.
Students that are
ready for a challenge: Will be prompted to use multiple sentences when
responding to the question "What are some things that you love to do at
school? Children will have the opportunity to explain things they like, but
also things they dislike and why? the teacher will extend the conversation and
will write whatever children say.
ELL Students: Will be
given the directions / questions in Spanish.
Dictation will be written in whichever language they answer.
Foundational Text for the Week:
Standard Addressed: P-SE 5. Child uses basic problem -solving
skills to resolve conflicts with other children.
Rita and Ralph's Rotten Day by Carmen Agra Deedy (author)
and Pete Oswald (illustrator): Everyday Rita and Ralph meet
to play. it's always fun and games until one rotten day when
a new game means someone
ends up crying.

Learning Centers Available for the Theme:
Blocks- Children are encouraged to explore the block center.
They will be shown a few unit blocks, shown where they can be found in the
classroom, and shown how to match them to their outline in order to clean up.
Dramatic Play- Children are invited to explore the dramatic
play area and use the props and clothing provided. Dramatic Play will be set up
as a kitchen. Teacher will introduce
basic materials, how to use them, and how to put them away.
Art- Children are invited to explore the art area. They will
be shown a paint container, brush, and paper. Teacher will model how to dip
brush in paint and paint a few brushstrokes on paper. Students will be shown
where materials can be found in the classroom and what they should do when they
finish painting.
Science- Children will be shown a few items from a
collection of natural objects. Teacher will model how students can begin to
explore some of the materials. They will be shown where these materials can be
found in the classroom and how to put them away when finished.
Math- Children will be shown a couple of puzzles. Teacher
will model how to take apart and how to put a few pieces together. Students
will be shown where puzzles can be found and how to put them away.
Library- Students can explore books from the classroom
library.
Writing- Students are invited to explore the materials
provided in the writing center. They are encouraged to explore their name
cards.
Sensory- Students will be shown a small amount of sand and a
few toys. They will be shown where these materials can be found in the
classroom. Students will be prompted to
wash their hands before and after using the sand table.
