Week of January 31, 2022

 

REMINDERS!

 
  • Please make sure that your child walks into the school building with a mask at all time.
  • Please make sure your child has two extra change of clothes, including underwear, tops bottoms and socks.
  • Please remember to bring sleeping mats to school.

Weekly Focus: Noticing Buildings


Focused Learning Activity for the week: 


Goal: P-ATL6  P-SCI3
Teacher will work with children at the block area. Children will be asked to construct using the foam blocks.

-How I am helping the children notice buildings and structures in the program environment?

 

-How I am learning what the children want to know about the buildings and structures in the program environment?

 

-What materials am I providing for the children that support their curiosity about the buildings in the environment? 


Learning Centers Available for the Theme:


BLOCKS: Children are invited to explore the materials in the block area. The teacher will introduce new materials and Invite children to explore them. 


DRAMATIC PLAY:  Children are invited to explore the dramatic play area and use the materials provided. This center area will be set up as a kitchen.

 

ART:  Children are invited to use and explore the art art area. we have materials that children can use to draw paints of buildings.

 

SCIENCE: Children will be encouraged to explore the science area from the collections of natural objects. 

 

MATH: Children are encouraged to explore table top blocks and other manipulatives objects.  

 

LIBRARY: Children are invited to use the library and explore them. The teacher will invite children to read and explore the books from the classroom library. 

 

WRITING: Children are encouraged to use and explore the materials in the writing center. Children are encouraged to explore the letter of the week as well as their names cards. 

 

SENSORY: Student will be encouraged to use the sensory table and manipulate objects in this area.

Week of January 24th!

Exploration Topic: Our Environment

Month Three: Building 

 

Weekly Focus: Construction

 

Weekly Teacher Reflections:

 

-How am I helping the children explore the tools used for construction? 

 

-How am I learning what the children find interesting about construction and exploring these ideas with them?


Questions that will be asked during the week related to the Foundational text:

The book used during this week is "All Buildings in New York: That I Have Drawn So Far" by James Gulliver Hancock

This book is about buildings where we live – New York City. Are there any buildings in here that you have seen before?

Goal –LC 2. Child understands and responds to increasingly complex communication and language from others.

The Flat Iron building is different than most other buildings. Let’s look together and see what makes if different. What do you notice?

Some of the buildings had pictures on them. Let’s look at this one with the noodles. What do you think might be inside this building?


Learning Centers Available for the Theme

 


 

BLOCKS: Children are invited to explore the materials in the block area. Invite them to use the blocks to construct things that they could find around them. 

 

DRAMATIC PLAY:  Children will be encouraged to explore this area. Children will use the kitchen to understand the way kitchen is made of. 

 

ART: In the art are we have materials that children can use to draw or construct things such as buildings. They are encouraged to use crayons to draw buildings with constructions paper. Also, encouraged them to use other materials such as paint and brush to paint buildings.  

 

SCIENCE: Children will be encouraged to explore the science area from the collections of objects that we have in this area such as, he collections of ants and how the ants build their houses what materials they need to made them.


MATH: Children are encouraged to explore table top blocks and other manipulatives objects that they can create new things like making towers that simulate buildings.  

 

LIBRARY: Children are invited to use the library and explore them. The teacher will invite children to read and observer the books that shows pictures from building of our city. Children are encouraged to clean up the area and put book back on place.

 

WRITING: Children are encouraged to use and explore the materials in the writing center. Children are learn the ABCs letters and they will be encouraged to explore the letter of the week as well as their names cards. 

 

SENSORY: Student will be encouraged to use the sensory table and manipulate objects in this area. When they finish, then they will organize them correctly by putting them back on place.
